I love this cardigan. Faded jeans, smart trousers, summer dresses, fitted skirts – it goes with them all. Knit from the top down using bulky yarn, it would make the ideal first garment as it is simple, yet the small details – such as the waist shaping which creates the flaring shape – sustain interest. Accentuated with a row of large buttons, the cardigan can be fastened in a number of ways. Once you knit it, you’re sure to find that it’s a garment you will always be glad to have!

If you have difficulties in finding a bulky-weight yarn in the fibre of your choice, remember that it’s always possible to double-strand an worsted weight. However, if you do decide to do this, make sure that you are happy with the drape and consistency of the fabric, that your knitting has the same tension as the one stated below, and that you buy enough yarn to accommodate the pattern.
